Looked OK from the outside but the inside is ruined. I should’ve stayed in bed this morning. [Update: Wheel repair shop looked at a photo and says they can fix tomorrow for $120. I gave the OK. Hopefully it’s not too screwed up when they see it in person!]

Looks better than I’d have expected, given the speed you were traveling!

Did you even try to buff it?

You need the right kind of buffer

Ouch. I hear heating it with a torch solves just about anything.

similar thing happened to me w/my SRT-4; something kicked up a chunk of concrete on the freeway. I thought it was one of the many lumps of slush on the road. *BANG* nope. luckily got to the shoulder before all of the air escaped and was able to save the tire. wheel was toast; the bend zone had signs of “pre-cracking.”

Yeah I’m actually really impressed how well everything held up. There should be more damage than just a bent wheel for how bad I screwed up, but it seems fine. Obviously I’m going to get the alignment checked but it doesn’t even feel off after I got a full-size wheel back on.

Yeah that’s pretty gnarly. Frustrating!! But hopefully quick to solve?

These are 18" wheels off of a Forester XT. I’m going to either fix or find a match online.

Eh, just bang it out. It’ll earn you credibility points in my book. I’ll let you determine whether or not that’s a good thing.

Fortunately I have the original wheels and tires around still, so I threw one on there. I’m taking it to the shop shortly. They have a wheel repair guy who is going to look at it and see if it is fixable. But in the scheme of things it isn’t too bad.

Seems to be the theme today. May we all survive bend-a-wheel 17.

Plus 4 new tires?

Yeah I was looking at it and wondering if it was heat/hammer able. The only fix like that I’ve seen in person was on a much less bent wheel but hey what do I know.

I think the tire is gone, but I have over 30k on them so I can live with that. Used wheel this style in good shape is around $150-200 online. I can live with that too, although I’m kinda hoping it can be fixed locally in the neighborhood of $100 just to speed up the process.

Yep. Just a month after putting 4 new tires on my Outback after my wife had a blowout.

I f&%ked up one of my RPF1s a couple weeks ago. Was turning down a very steep road and couldn’t see the curb. Wheel is still safe to drive on but it looks like crap now

Can be repaired if it’s a good alloy. I had a similar one on a BBS wheel. Heated and wacked it with a plastic hammer until the balancing machine told me it was ok.

It is an Enkei wheel, so I’m hopeful it is a good alloy and well-built wheel. The wheel shop said that it looks fixable based on a photo so I’m passing it off to them to fix. MSRP on these is $360 each so I figured it was worth a shot to fix.
